Energy
In 2024, UTAR's total commercial energy consumption across both the Sg Long and Kampar campuses amounted to 17,877,376.64 kWh. The Sg Long campus recorded a consumption of 3,798,493.00 kWh for Block KA and 5,686,670.00 kWh for Block KB, while the Kampar campus accounted for 8,392,213.64 kWh. At the same time, our installed solar panels at the Kampar campus generated 5,262,673.17 kWh of renewable energy, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
Based on the UI Greenmetric Guideline 2024 Emissions Factor, our total energy consumption resulted in a carbon footprint of 15,017.00 tCO2e, which translates to approximately 1.16 tCO2e per person in 2024. These figures highlight UTAR’s ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on conventional grid electricity and advance sustainability initiatives through increased solar energy adoption.
Based on the Malaysia Energy Commission’s Grid Emissions Factor 2022, our total energy consumption resulted in a carbon footprint of 13,837,089.52 kgCO2e, which translates to approximately 1,070.15 kgCO2e per person in 2024. These figures highlight UTAR’s ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on conventional grid electricity and advance sustainability initiatives through increased solar energy adoption.
