3rd International Symposium on Green and Sustainable Technology ISGST 2019

Green Technology is vital for sustainable develop-ment to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future gen-erations to meet their needs. Development of green and sustainable technologies enable signifi-cant savings in the use of energy and materials, substitute the use of non-renewable, non-biodegradable or extractive resources to renew-able, biodegradable and/or restorative inputs and reduce or prevent emissions, contaminations and negative environmental impacts. ISGST2019 or-ganized by Center of Environment and Green Technology (CEGT), will provide a platform for dissemination of knowledge and latest develop-ment in the area of green and sustainable tech-nology across international academic fraternity. Why Should We Go Green – Introducing You to Global Warming and Us"

Talk Synopsis 

“Global warming”, also known as “Climate Change”, is a hot topic that is often discussed and addressed today. It is related to the environment and is aiming towards reducing the effect of global warming via reduction of carbon emission. The UN Climate Change Conferences held every year meets and discussed topics to reduce carbon emission in the world. 

What is global warming? Why do some countries suffer extremely cold weather when the earth is supposed to be “warmer”? Should we really be worried about it and how bad could it actually be and how much that could impact on humans? Will installing air-condition units save us from global warming? What are the on-going efforts worldwide to reduce global warming? These questions will all be answered and addressed during the talk, helping all of us to understand global warming, its actual impact and threat to humans and what roles can we play to help saving humans and earth.

Seminar of "iCycle - The Internet of Waste Things"

What’s the seminar about? 

UTAR Kampar campus will launch the iCycle Programme from 30th July 2018 to 3rd August 2018. This programme promote recycling in campus by using iCycle Rewarding System. The objectives of iCycle Programme in UTAR Kampar campus are 

  1. to meet the target of zero waste in UTAR Kampar campus, 
  2. to promote recycling practice among students and staff, and
  3. to form a sustainable recycling system in UTAR Kampar campus. 

A seminar of "iCycle - The Internet of Waste Things" will be held in conjunction with the iCycle Programme in UTAR Kampar campus. This seminar aims to equip participants with the awareness to meet Zero Waste in future and understand the concept of iCycle waste management system through rewarding system by using internet in order to empower participants to enhance the role of community/public participation for waste management.

Venue : EDK2, Block E, UTAR Kampar Campus 

This seminar will be presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Ching Seong, the founder of iCycle Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. A training session on iCycle System will be held after the seminar from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm for better understanding on the way to use the system.
